we celebrated the new Mr. and Mrs. Nelson last weekend and it reminded us of how blessed we are to have such great friends.

Things we'll miss about LA #3

Dear Dodgers...

Lakers...

and (most importantly) Bruins...

We are your true and loyal fans, no matter where we may live.

We hereby promise to (a) keep watching your games, even if we have to get special cable for it, (b) cheer really loud for you (even if we are outnumbered) while watching you on the other coast, and (c) always proclaim that you are the best, even if you are in last place.

Though you haven't always had great seasons, (ahem, Dodgers, ahem, Bruins) we love you just the same.

We'll miss our Dodger Dogs, birthday Laker games (especially the one when we sat next to Mitch Kupchak), and our fall tailgates at the Rose Bowl.

It rains in the summer?

We experienced our very first summer thunderstorm when we were back in DC a couple weeks ago. I'm sure summer thunderstorms are great, but I would have much rather liked to have experienced this one inside, and not in the back of a cab on the way to the airport.

Nevertheless, we made it. And this California girl wondered how it could rain. In the summer.

In the meantime, we're soaking in these last few weeks of beautiful sunshine while we can.

Things we'll miss about LA #2

South Pasadena Farmer's Market

Every Thursday night, the little city we affectionately refer to as "South Pas" has a farmer's market with fresh produce, pretty flowers, and lots of good food. (Joe goes for the pupusas, I go for the hot dogs. That pretty much sums us up.)

We'll miss our summer walks down to the market, the bread man, running into our funny New Yorker neighbor, and most of all, the hot dogs! (Ok, so maybe that's just me.)

We love you, South Pas. You sure make it hard to leave.

DC in the summer...

...is sweaty.

We went back last week for a quick trip so that (a) Joe could get some work done, and (b) I could find a new place for us to live. Good news: we were both successful! (and sweaty)

note: this is Dupont, not Shirlington. we would have to give up our first (unborn) child to pay rent in Dupont. so we decided against it.

Welcome the newest residents of Shirlington, an "urban village" of Arlington, just outside of DC.

Shirlington is home to a row of cute restaurants and shops, has its own library, and (especially important) a great coffee shop within walking distance of our new place.

We think we've found the perfect place for us. Now we just have to clarify what they mean by "weatherizing" our apartment.

Things we'll miss about LA #1

Bel Air Presbyterian Church

This is home for us.

We will miss the amazing views, eating donuts at 8:57am, my rockstar keyboard friend (Ed, that's you), the "I can't stop laughing in church" laughs, Hollywood Bowl Easters, and holding hands for the benediction.

I love my church.
